Get ready to explore art and history in a whole new way. The Mill City Museum and Art to Change the World (ACW) have collaborated on an interactive public art installation to be featured during this year’s festival. The work will combine creativity, history, and community spirit and be located on West River Parkway near the Mill City Museum. The public art installation is funded by a grant from the St. Anthony Falls Heritage Board.
Sadie Ward and Frances Bates will collaborate on an experience near the Stone Arch Bridge that includes learning about women and the history of the textile industry. Their interactive display invites the audience to join a bridge and textile water weaving activity.
Owen Brown creates a unique installation where people tell each other their secrets and listen to each other along the river, today and in the past.
Kelly Frankenberg will provide the best photo op at the Stone Arch Festival with her 8-foot-tall monarch butterfly, made from recycled materials. Learn about the monarch’s history on the river.
Barbara Bridges will show a 4′ x 8′ assemblage Trivia Tryptic focused on the wheat, water, and history of the Mill City Museum.
Briauna Williams will contribute a 4′ x 8′ mural exploring the riverfront industrial history.
Watch art come to life with live Art in Action demonstrations all along the festival route by our artistic and creative creators in the community: Northern Clay Center, Small Batch Henna & Craft, WOW Mobile Metal Lab, Crayon Kelly and Art Battle Minnesota, Third Daughter Restless Daughter, People Incorporated’s ArtAbility, and Spaced Out Lulu.
Families will find entertainment and activities in the Mill City Museum courtyard and surrounding area.
