Every year, the Stone Arch Bridge Festival handpicks an artist to encapsulate the essence of the Minneapolis Riverfront in a one-of-a-kind limited-release poster. This year, we are proud to feature the talented Sage Phillips. Their 2024 poster, a stunning oil painting print, showcases the iconic Stone Arch Bridge and the majestic Great Blue Heron, a true symbol of the riverfront’s wildlife.
The 2024 Collector’s Poster and other works by Sage Phillips will be available for purchase at their booth (#156), located near the Hennepin Ave Bridge. The beautiful poster image will be on the festival tote bag available to purchase at the festival information booths.
“For this year’s poster, I created a painting featuring one of my favorite members of the riverfront’s wildlife population: the Great Blue Heron. They are such beautiful birds and never fail to bring an air of mystery, grace (and a smile to my face) when they fly by with their iconic silhouette. It was the perfect fit to pair with the equally iconic Stone Arch Bridge!” – Sage Phillips
Sage is an oil painter and visual artist who explores scenes of dreamlike fantasy and the natural world. They received their BFA from the Minneapolis College of Art and Design in 2022. Sage was also the champion of the March 2024 Art Battle.
Art Battle® is live competitive painting. Painters create the best work they can in 20 minutes. Patrons move around the easels as they work, closely watching the creative process. At the end of the round, the audience votes for their favorite painting and bids in a silent auction to take the work home. Art Battle happens in 50+ cities worldwide; check artbattle.com for local listings.
Art Battle Minnesota has partnered with the Stone Arch Bridge Festival to bring more opportunities to artists. They will bring live demonstrations to the festival and artists will be present in their booth throughout the entire weekend. The Art Battle booth is located near the Hennepin Ave Bridge.
